Rated 5 out of 5 by Michael from Small, fast, portable; can reformat Windows version for Mac The drive is exactly as advertised.
The Windows version comes formatted using the Windows NT standard. If you have a Mac and want a color other than black: Buy the Windows version in whatever color you like and reformat it for Mac. To do that, plug it into your Mac, and install the Western Digital Mac utility that comes on the drive. Use that utility to erase & reformat the drive - you'll get an error message if you try to reformat it using Apple's Disk Utility if you have High Sierra. It reformats quickly and - voila - you have a Mac-compatible drive.

If you want to retain the software that comes with the drive, just copy it to your desktop, reformat the portable drive, and copy the software back onto it. Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous from useless, 0 customer support I bought this because it was on sale at a store near me, (I have two other externals but they are porsche design) the day I got it everything was fine, and I uploaded a couple hundred photo's from a wildlife shoot, the next day my computer didn't recognize it.
Its been three weeks and still customer supports advice does not work. I would return it but then what would happen to my photo's? This company is a total joke and I highly recommend you avoid at all costs. Rated 5 out of 5 by Setforsea from Good value in an portable storage This drive provides compact external storage for my Mac. I have three of them-two copies of files that I don't keep on my computer, and one for Time Machine. The oldest one I have is now two years old and hasn't skipped a beat, so I am happy with their reliability. These drives are a good value and provide the additional storage that I need.
Transfer speeds are good, though I wouldn't edit video from them or anything like that.
